English may be the main language on IRC, but is by no means the only one. Some languages in particular, like Finnish, Portuguese, Spanish and German are widely used and have dedicated channels on the large IRC networks or even whole networks where they replace English as the primary language. For people who are not comfortable with English or simply prefer their native tongue, there is also a place on IRC.
